Mageia sat on her bunk with her knees drawn up and the heavy, leather-bound book laying on it. Her characteristic scowl had deepened. She had her book opened to a more complex spell than she usually attempted to decode. The strange characters seemed to swim before her eyes as her head throbbed with a bad headache.

The boards groaned and creaked in objection beneath her heft as she traipsed precisely and leisurely up the lodge's steps. A conscientious ear compressed mutely to the entryway, and after a few prolonged seconds, it was tentatively forced ajar. Her feet suspended in their tread; she confined her breath, and ogled earthward towards Mageia. Ophelia's profile was vacant as she gawked at the demigod, and she briskly pirouetted her skull to the side, drab hair flitting dramatically in front of her face. Tan skin blushed lightly as Ophelia's intellect scrabbled frantically for a plausible alibi."Hi.", she mumbled, flaunting her a gander of scintillating chartreuse optics.

Mageia was startled out of her personal word of swirling characters, intelligible to all but the ones who had written them by the word of a stranger. This was no surprise; most of the campers were strangers. She knew only her cabin-mates and one or two others. She pulled the heavy leather tome from her eyes for a moment to see a girl; certainly not a cabin-mate. Slowly, Mageia set the book at her side and slowly, swung her pale, bare feet to touch the creaky floor. Her bright green eyes bored accusingly into the strange girl's. "You," she said, in her usual irritated growl, "are not a daughter of Hecate."

Ophelia continued to gaze at the demigod, blinking vacantly. Eventually, the truth wedged its way regretfully out of her brutally honest mouth."Eh, I was just coming to...steal something." The phrase was followed by an awkward cough. In fact, she had been coming for a visit to steal that beloved book, which was currently laying open on the floorboards. Maybe she could just snatch it and run...but that wasn't the fun part. Stealth, not getting caught, that was the thrill of it all. Ophelia flexed her arms as if preparing them, in case Mageia decided to attack her, but muscle wouldn't defend in this instance. Even she, the dimmest crown in the box, knew Hecate's children relied mostly on magic.

Mageia's eyes narrowed, saw her eyes flick to her treasured magic book. She placed a hand on it. "And what," she demanded. "were you going to do with a magic book?" She slowly closed her hand into a fist, resting it on her knee. If this came to fight, she hoped she would win; however, she hadn't actually practiced magic in a while. She had been too caught up in her studies. "You cannot read the language it is written in." She hesitated, her scowl deepening. "A child of what god is so brash as to invade the cabin of my mother?"

Ophelia watched carefully as the Hecate child covered the book with a hand, as if protecting it. She didn't take her eyes from it as Mageia spoke, for safety's sake."Dunno. It seems pretty cool to me.", she replied shortly, and began twirling a strand of gray hair around her finger. Ophelia liked having "decorations" around her small portion of the cabin, and this lovely book would count as one. The graceful, intricate characters she had glimpsed; they were art."We-ell...I'm a Hermes child. Can't ya tell? Only one of his could be as amazingly thieving as myself.", she said slowly, and thrust her hands into her khaki short pockets. Usually, Ophelia didn't gloat, but she felt it was about time she tried, just for the fun of it.

Mageia's eyes narrowed, her brow furrowed further. An Olympain child; of course. Who else would have the nerve to steal from the Hecate cabin. "Pretty cool. That is the best you can come up with?" Mageia's voice was full of disdain. Only a child of magic could understand the power the book gave to any who could read it; of course this daughter of Hermes couldn't comprehend that. She sniffed, closing the book and replacing it under her pillow with care. "Only a foolish thief infiltrates an occupied building. You may as well leave now; you won't get your hands on my mother's book."

Ophelia narrowed her eyes, crossing her arms and tapping one finger irritatedly on her elbow."Pretty cool, yes. I couldn't think of a better word. Do I need to come up with something awesomer? I don't think there is anything...", she said, a serious look on her face. Ophelia struggled with sarcasm."Yeah well you was so quiet, I didn't know you were in here. Anyways, why leave now? This could be a sign, us meeting together like this...a sign that we should be friends or somethin'." She wrinkled her brow, and thoughtfully pulled her hair back for a second with one hand. All this thinking was going to kill her.

Mageia tried not to take the other half-blood's inability to find a better word as an insult; if it was said by another child of Hecate, of course... But no child of Hecate would say there was no better description of her book than "pretty cool". She listened to Ophelia in stony, bristling silence. This child of an Olympian dared to believe fate had drawn them together? ... But then again, what did Mageia know of fate? She dealt with magic, not destiny. That was Apollo's call. "You truly think we should be friends?" she asked, a little dubiously.

She looked down at the demigod, not exactly sure what to do. Her finger was still tapping on her elbow as she stood with arms crossed. The suspense, and the thinking of course, was killing her. And finally Mageia spoke. Ophelia's eyes reflected the same skepticism lingering in the Hecate demigoddess's voice."Uh. Only if you want to.", she said quickly, subtly and thoughtfully stroking her chin with one hand. Did she herself actually want to? Magical language reading people, to be honest, made her feel dumb, and even though she wasn't that bright, Ophelia didn't like to feel dumb. But maybe she'd give Mageia a chance, as a favor to make up for her trying to steal the book.

Mageia paused, looking the Hermes child up and down. She rarely reached out to the children of Olympians, preferring minor godlings... but why reject an offer? Truth be told, she didn't have many friends; her world was a lone place, just her and her book. Maybe that wasn't quite the best, or healthiest way to live. She shrugged, and met Ophelia's eyes. "You want to be friends with the child of a minor goddess?"

Ophelia smiled weakly, and shifted tiredly in her standing position. Her legs felt stiff from holding the same stance. The demigod pondered her question, like all questions, with serious concern."Oh naw, I wouldn't care about who your parents are.", she said casually, and then suddenly wrinkled her brow."Wait...is there something wrong with the minor gods and such?" She raised a gray eyebrow at Mageia in suspicion. Ophelia needed to look things like this through; she'd had bad experiences with not paying attention to details.

Mageia's eyes widened for a moment, then returned to their former narrow position. Of course there was nothing wrong with the minor gods! They just weren't as full of themselves as the Olympians. "Of course there's nothing wrong with them!" she snapped. "Why would there be?"

Ophelia stared blankly for a minute, and then seemed to take in why Mageia was acting all cynical."I dunno. You asked me if that would be a problem, so I thoughts there must be somethin' wrong with the lil' gods.", she replied simply, giving a small shrug. The gray-haired demigod sniffed anxiously at her, in case she started to snap again."Soooo...now that we're...friends...", she trailed off, eying Mageia."...shouldn't we like...hang out or somethin'? Do you like sports?" Ophelia had a feeling Mageia wouldn't be into sports, but it was worth a try. What if all Mageia wanted to do was sit around and read? She gave a psychological gasp. That would be the end of their brisk friendship. Well...unless the books were actually interesting.

Mageia hesitated, then shrugged. "Depends on what sports you're talking about," she said. She was a little unsure of this friendship, but thought she might as well give it a try. At the very least, they could train in the arena. It had been a while since she had really practiced her skills with a sword. Maybe she could even teach Ophelia some magic. Who knows, this awkward exchange might actually get them somewhere.

" Like track, and football, and all that cool shiz.", she said, somewhat ecstatically. Ophelia was naturally competitive. She'd accept her loss, sure, but she'd train and train to become better until she surpassed her foe's skill."And weapon-y fighting stuff, of course." Her thoughts wandered back to the cabin...back to her little box of daggers and knives. Oh, how she loved those suckers. That collection was her pride and joy, although sometimes she found some missing. It could just be her imagination...but it was likely that her room mates had stolen them. Ophelia knew she couldn't put it past them.

All the sudden, Justin barged into the room. He flopped face down on his bed. "Oohsh ath?" his muffled voice came out. ("who's that") He looked up. He then got up and sat on the bed, waiting for a response.

OOC: ... welcome to the thread. xD
Mageia jumped, in one motion, leaping into a defensive crouch in front of her bunk with a knife held in front. As soon as she recognized Justin, she straightened up. "Ophelia. Daughter of Hermes. My... friend."

"Eh? Well what ever. Every bone in my body hurts, but I don't know any healing spells. Do YOU know any?" he said now laying back down on the bed.

Ophelia smiled amiably at the arriving demigod, who was a cabin mate of Mageia's. It kind of scared her that Mageia had pulled a knife on him, but it didn't hurt to take precautions, she guessed. At the mention of aching bones, Ophelia recalled that strange little girl she'd met, who's godparent was the goddess of recovery, or something."I know someone who can fix ye up.", she said brightly, eyes lighting up a bit.

"Really?" asked Justin, looking over. "Nevermind I'll just go to sleep. I'll be fine, and asleep." He said yawning. He'd been sword training all morning, not that he couldn't just use some random spell or something, but it's always good to know more then one way to defend yourself when you're a demigod. He yawned, and put his head on his pillow and closed his eyes.
